Reminders & notifications

Daily reminders

A reminder is a daily notification at a time you pick, whose tap opens the logging screen. Manage them under Customize → Reminders. Each reminder opens one of four things:

• Full — the full logging view
• Quick — the Quick check-in
• Group — one group's trackers, pre-expanded (so "21:30 → log the evening meds" is one tap)
• Check-in — one of your own check-ins

Reminders never escalate, never repeat within a day, and never comment on what you did or didn't log. Deleting one takes effect immediately, with Undo.

The free tier includes 2 reminders; more belong to the full version (see Free & full version for what that means today).

The backup reminder

Separate from your own reminders, the app can nudge you when your data has no recent backup — because your data lives only on this phone, and a lost phone is otherwise lost data. Configure it under Settings → Backup reminder: on/off (default on) and a period of 1 week or 1 month (default 1 month). While you have never made a backup at all, it reminds weekly regardless of the period — that is the one state where the nudge is urgent.

Dismissing the notification is the snooze; tapping it opens the export screen. Making a JSON export (Data or Full backup) resets the clock. A CSV or PDF export does not count — neither can be restored.

Notification behavior & permissions

• The app asks for notification permission the first time you turn on a reminder, the backup reminder, a goal nudge, or one-tap logging. If you decline, the setting stays as you chose it and an inline hint explains that the system is blocking the post — nothing fires until permission is granted.
• Reminders use inexact alarms and reschedule themselves daily; they survive a reboot. On phones with aggressive battery management a reminder can arrive a little late.
• Each kind has its own notification channel, so you can silence or restyle reminders, the backup nudge and goal nudges independently in system settings. One-tap logging's strip is silent by design.
• Reminder content is conservative: a group or check-in reminder names its target ("Time to log 'Evening'"), nothing more. While Guest mode is on, a reminder that would name something hidden is not shown at all (and resumes by itself when the mode goes off).
